In the autumn months we were lucky enough to come across the gorgeous Globba Winitii, an unfortunate scientific name for such a beautiful plant. Also known as Dancing Ladies Ginger, it is a native plant of Thailand and Myanmar. Its colours range from white through to deep shades of purple and its flower bracts hang gracefully from slender stems.
Dancing for joy in their pot |
When purchased our Dancing Ladies were happily and busily multiplying in a pot. However, when their winter dormancy had passed, we found an appropriate place in our garden to show off their gorgeous blooms. Now they live in a semi-shaded position amongst other members of the ginger family.
Our Dancing Ladies have been easy care... When the new shoots appeared in November the plants were given an organic fertiliser. Make sure that they have sufficient water and they will reward you with the delightful arching blooms.
Happy in the ginger and chilli bed |
Wishing you
hours of enjoyment and contentment in your garden…
